can you hold the carbs?

if you want low-carb dining, a growing number of restaurants are happy to oblige. you want low carb dining at home? supermarket shelves are exploding with "carb smart," "carb aware," and "carb sense" foods designed for "low-carb lifestyles." we have dr. atkins to blame for this carb crazy community we are becoming. now that this diet has been mainstream for quite some time, someone is finally seeing the toll it can take on one's health. do we really think that eating a diet rich in red meats and saturated fats will keep us healthy? check out this article from the new york times about a law suit in progress for dr. atkins unhealthy messages:

remember, a diet that is full of whole grains, fiber and fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables is the best we could ask for!

blog, blog, blog

unfortunately, my current job is slowly dragging along, with lots of spare time in between projects and what not. so, i decided that i would start jotting my thoughts on this weblog during the in between times. i am pretty new to this sort of thing, but have found pleasure and many laughs in reading the blogs of friends.

i spend my days trying to think of how to change the world, particularly the health status of the world. texas, my homestate, has 5 of the fattest cities in america....5. with the media and the food industry constantly feeding us (no pun intended) delightful images of processed, fatty, food lacking any nutritional content - what's a gal like me to do? how do you combat this? this is what i think about at work. i'm open for any suggestions. :)
